Keindahan Refleksi Air Dataran Garam Terbesar di Dunia

Inilah Salar de Uyuni, dataran garam terbesar di dunia seluas 10.582 kilometer sekaligus cermin alam terbesar di dunia. Terletak di antara Potosi dan Oruro, dekat puncak Pegunungan Andes, Bolivia dataran garam ini terbentuk oleh beberapa danau prasejarah, yang berubah bentuk sekitar 30.000 sampai 42.000 tahun yang lalu. Permukaannya tertutup lapisan garam setinggi beberapa kaki, menjadikan dataran ini tetap kering sepanjang tahun.

Menurut Gizmodo, beberapa kali dalam setahun dataran yang terletak di barat daya Bolivia tersebut mendapatkan curahan hujan hingga tertutup lapisan air tipis. Saat itulah Salar de Uyuni menjelma menjadi cermin alam terbesar di muka bumi. Permukaannya yang datar sempurna dan jernih memantulkan refleksi langit dan awan di atasnya, menghasilkan pemandangan yang mengagumkan bagi siapa saja yang menyaksikannya.

Meskipun dari gambar terlihat sangat panas, sebenarnya suhu di Salar de Uyuni cukup hangat, hanya berkisar antara 13 derajat sampai 21 derajat celcius. Setiap tahun para turis berdatangan ke Salar de Uyuni untuk menyaksikan fenomena cermin raksasa tersebut. Selain bercermin di sana pengunjung Salar de Uyuni juga berkesempatan untuk menyaksikan kawanan burung flamingo merah muda yang memang menjadikan kawasan dataran garam ini sebagai habitat mereka.

Menurut Wikipedia dalam bahasa Spanyol, salar berarti dataran garam. Sedangkan kata uyuni diambil dari bahasa Aymara yang berarti pena atau hamparan. Uyuni juga merupakan nama sebuah kota yang menjadi tempat persinggahan para turis yang hendak mengunjungi dataran gara tersebut. Jadi Salar de Uyuni bisa diartikan sebagai dataran garam yang terhampar atau dataran garam di Kota Uyuni.
